A Creative Motherhood, Coloured Doors, and Magnolia Trees.
A collection of things I'm loving this February.
This month I have been in a bit of an in-between void. I made a last minute (like 12 hours before) decision to fly with the kids back to Queensland with my husband so we wouldn’t have to spend so much time apart this month. (We have been living across 2 states the last year, IYKYK) It’s been incredibly difficult living in this way, and we’re very excited that the end is in sight.
I’ve been putting a lot of my energy into creating, writing, planning. Building up my website, getting things ready to take photography bookings again, and making sure Substack is all in order before I have to jump 2 feet back into uni again next month.
I’m also getting all 4 wisdom teeth removed this week, so that’s a whole week I’ve written off as a nothing week.
In saying all of this I have still been finding joy and inspiration. Here is a collection of things I’ve been savouring this month.
Magnolia Trees
I’ve been doing some planning for our new garden and i’ve become kind of obsessed with magnolias. I’m wanting a big one in our front yard that has a bench underneath it so I can sit amongst the flowers and breathe in their beautiful scent.
How lovely would that be!?
I’m also thinking about crabapples along the back fence.
We love our flowers here.
Bold coloured doors
I just love bright and bold front doors. I’m seriously considering painting ours fuschia. We are going to have a black house so a deep and bold pink would really pop! I’m also so glad that we can change the paint because I also love blue doors, green doors, purple doors, yellow doors, and all of the coloured doors ! Perhaps I’ll give a few colours a go.

Coastal Walks
I have fallen off my pilates streek. It was going great but some health stuff came up and I just haven’t been able to keep up. Being back in Queensland though has meant long coastal walks regularly and it’s so good. I love sticking a podcast on, sea breeze on my face, and just walking for at least an hour. It’s really the only alone time I get. Water watching, people watching, bird watching. It all happens.
Here are some snaps from my recent Gold Coast walks.

Motherhood and Creativity - with Kat
Last year I completed my dear friend Kat’s Art of Alchemy course for creative mothers. It has a creative business spin on it, but honestly I didn’t use any of it for business. I applied it to my life. It was AMAZING. The shifts I had in that time was profound and my life circumstances began to change drastically. I went from struggling big time with no idea where we were going to live, to negotiating the purchase of a block of land (literally during the last live call), where we have been designing and planning our dream home, and garden, since.
It was so good that I’m doing it again. I’m so excited for it. This time I’ll be focusing on the business side of things and applying it to my work.
If you’re a Mother. Period. You should check this out.
It’s like a map for how to do life with kids, in a way that is easeful, creative, abundant, beautiful and energising.
So many aha moments. So many things clicked for me.
It’s the last time kat’s going to be running it live, and the community in there is incredible. I’m actually sad I won’t have the opportunity to do it again live after this.
It starts next month, 1st of March, and I’d love to connect with some of you there! There’s already some incredible women signed up.
