Romanticising Home Life is a photography and short form written series where I romanticise an aspect of my life, usually with my children involved. It’s encouraging me to get creative with my camera and capture my homelife in way that reminds me of the happy memories when I look back on this time, living in this house. We are here for a short time before moving on again with no friends and minimal family support. It’s a hard time that I want to remember with love during the first few months as a family of 4.
I lost my instant pot cord recently. I have no idea how I lost it or where it possibly could have gone, but it is gone. The instant pot is my most used, most loved kitchen appliance. It is my life-saver. Honest. It comes out at least every second day. It allows me to cook bone broth, fluffy rice, juicy protein for my wraps for lunch, dinner many nights of the week, my partners work lunches. So many things. It’s set and forget and I love that for this time in my life with the 2 little ones. It allows me to cook from scratch, healthy meals, with ease, every day.
But the cord is gone!
So here’s a photo of me beginning the weeks meal prep, on the STOVE! It’s a lot harder having to stand over it and cook meals one at a time, back to back, with baby and toddler requiring my attention. I now realise how lucky I have been these past few years with my trusty kitchen appliance. How did they do it before instant pots?
Haha it’s all a bit dramatic.
Incase you were wondering, yes, I do actually wear dresses around the house, and aprons to protect the dresses. They’re comfy and make me feel lovely. If you are partial to wearing a dress, you should definitely try wearing the pretty ones even when you’re only spending the day at home. And if you are required to cook and don’t have lots of time (or just can’t be bothered), you should definitely try and instant pot!
Tell me about your favourite kitchen appliance?
I am currently on the lookout for 10 muses for a series I am running on Substack across December and January. By booking in a heavily discounted remote shoot with me, as a muse for the project, you’ll receive a digital gallery of your photos as well as a piece of creative writing or poetry that has been inspired by you. For more information on this series you can read about it here.
I’m also going to be in the South-West of Western Australian at the end of November/beginning of December and am available for shoots by request only. If you’re interested in a shoot in that stunning part of the world please reach out!
