Welcome to our home, the hallway and entry to our house. White walls and moody natural lighting. It’s winter and it’s empty, which means the sun is out. It’s the only spot in the house to fit the clothes airers and so is often overflowing with washing and shoes (and scooters and trucks and trains). I glide down here multiple times a day, to and from the bedroom, but rarely use the front door myself.
It’s where Blake comes and goes morning and night, and roo watches the rubbish trucks on a Tuesday, collects the mail occasionally, or heads off to the park with his Dadda or his Lou-Lou. It’s plain and simple.
I imagine putting a beautiful hallway table in there. Something old, like a a small antique shop counter. I’d top it with my record player, a plant, some art, perhaps a few candles or a crystal lamp. Place a large floor standing mirror beside it. Perhaps a wooden stool on the other side with the purpose of putting shoes on.
But we leave in a few months and I don’t know what the next home will fit. So for now it stays empty. Well, besides the washing. The shoes. The toys.
And sometimes the pram.
Taking these photos turned out to be really fun. Roo was zooming up and down the hallway on his scooter so I could take test shots with the camera settings. He then came back when I was just about done and wanted to get in the frame with me. So we had running races up and down the hallway and twirled around together.
I love this. Such a simple space described so beautifully
