Pomegranates on my doorstep.
*My first paid subscriber post* A creative exploration of home alongside desire for travel and finding ones place in the world.
This month I explored the concept of home alongside a desire for travel and finding ones place, loosely based on my own lived experience. I explored this topic through creative writing, video, and photography. (Unfortunately the video didn't make the cut for Substack publishing). The visual parts are a mashup of melancholy and wanderlust that were captured at two beaches I’ve been admiring since we moved here (to Victoria, Australia).
Pomegranates represent death and fertility, they also have strong ties to the Greek Goddess Aphrodite. Historically they been used as housewarming gifts to bring good luck, fertility and abundance. We actually planted my sons placenta under a pomegranate tree so they have a special meaning to me, too.
In this months Substack the title is Pomegranates on my doorstep as I explore the concept of home and cycles of metaphorical deaths and rebirths.
These creative explorations are for paid subscribers only and will be released once a month. I hope you enjoy this months topic - it feels so scary to actually post this online - but I’m being braving and starting somewhere… here.
